Banana Boat Song(Day O)是 Harry Belafonte重新改編自牙買加民歌
牙買加位於加勒比海的大安地列斯群島,早期被西班牙移民統治,這個島位在北緯18度左右是熱帶地區,歐洲殖民者在此推廣香蕉,咖啡等栽培業,這首香蕉船歌,就是香蕉搬運工在黎明前天色黑暗中辛勤扛著一籮籮的香蕉裝到船上出口,到了天快亮時,工作就快結束,可以去領薪資了,
當時這種非洲後裔即興唱和的歌曲,就成了一首民歌,最早是在1952年Edric Conner 的[加勒比]專輯中出現, 而1956年的 Harry Belafonte演唱的版本也就是現在聽的,一直被認為是最受歡迎的版本
