這是日本電影”新里見八犬傳”的主題曲，主要演員都是當時日本的最紅的明星，包括玉女偶像藥師丸，性格小生真田廣之（最近演過”七夜怪談”電影版）以及千葉真一等。電影本身是一部改編自日本民間傳說的神怪片，卻請來外國人寫作及演唱英文的主題曲，在當時可謂一大創舉，以至於９０年代的日本偶像劇經常選用西洋藝人的作品作為主題曲，也就稀鬆平常、見怪不怪。然經過時間的淬煉，人們對”新里見八犬傳”這部電影已經不復記憶，這首抒情悅耳的主題曲卻流傳久遠，即使在今天，網路上仍然經常有人在詢問這首歌曲。
John O’Banion won the prestigious Tokyo Music Festival Award in 1982, with “I Don’t Want To Lose Your Love”, later sung by Crystal Gayle on her 1983 album Cage The Songbird, achieving as a single release, the #2 spot on Billboard’s country music chart. John also got the attention of his Japanese fans with two songs written and sung for the samurai/fantasy epic movie Satomi Hakken Den (Legend of the Eight Samurai) with those songs being “I Don’t Want This Night To End” (called Satomi Hakken Den in Japan) and “White Light”.
