You’ll Never Walk Alone

You’ll Never Walk Alone” is a show tune from the 1945 Rodgers and Hammerstein musical Carousel.
In the musical, in the second act, Nettie Fowler, the cousin of the female protagonist Julie Jordan, sings “You’ll Never Walk Alone” to comfort and encourage Julie when her husband, Billy Bigelow, the male lead, kills himself to avoid capture during a failed robbery. It is reprised in the final scene to encourage a graduation class of which Louise (Billy and Julie’s daughter) is a member. Billy watches this ceremony during his return to Earth.
The song is also sung at association football clubs around the world, where it is performed by a massed chorus of supporters on matchday; this tradition began at Liverpool Football Club in the early 1960s and later spread to several other clubs.

You’ll Never Walk Alone is a gospel compilation album by Elvis Presley, released in 1971 on RCA Camden. The album consisted primarily of previously released Gospel recordings by Presley dating back as far as 1957. You’ll Never Walk alone was a minor hit single for him in the late 1960s. Two previously unissued recordings are included: “Let Us Pray” from the soundtrack of Presley’s 1969 film, Change of Habit and “Who Am I?”, a leftover from the early-1969 recording sessions that produced his album From Elvis in Memphis. The album was later re-released in 2006 as part of a reissue series of Elvis’ budget albums. However at the time this album was a big seller in the uk and reached a high position.

Lyrics

When you walk through a storm hold your head up high And don’t be afraid of the dark At the end of a storm is a golden sky And the sweet silver song of a lark
Walk on through the windWalk on through the rainThough your dreams be tossed and blown
Walk on, walk on with a hope in your heartAnd you’ll never walk aloneYou’ll never, ever walk alone
Walk on, walk on with a hope in your heartAnd you’ll never walk aloneYou’ll never, ever walk alone
